Killing Ismail Haniya is a cowardly act and a blatant violation of international laws and humanitarian values: Indian Scientists Society
New Delhi, August 2: President of th Association of Scientists of India, Maulana Mahmood Asaad Madni, has strongly condemned the cowardly operation of the assassination of former Prime Minister of Palestine Ismail Haniya, describing it as a blatant violation of international laws and fundamental humanitarian values. Ismail Haniya was brutally killed in a coordinated attack on August 1, 2024 in the Iranian capital, Tehran, while participating in the inauguration ceremony of the new president Masoud Bezhkian.
Maulana Mahmoud Asaad Madani highlighted that the ongoing genocide in Gaza and Khan Younis over the past ten months constitutes a massive humanitarian crisis that requires an urgent response from the international community. Israeli actions, which include the mass slaughter of innocent civilians, including children and the elderly, and the destruction of basic infrastructure such as hospitals and schools, constitute a gross human rights violation. Ismael Haniya was at the forefront of resistance against this oppressive regime, and has suffered grave personal losses, as many of his loved ones have lost in this ongoing struggle.
Maulana Madani affirmed that Haniya was a key figure in ceasefire efforts and humanitarian negotiations led by multiple countries. We have called for the Indian Government to condemn this heinous act loudly, reflecting India s old stance on justice and moral values, and urge it to take decisive and effective steps to stop the ongoing genocide in Palestine.
